Editorial Workflow

Editorial Workflow & Publication Process

International Journal of Developmental Issues in Education and Humanities (IJDIEH) — Published by University of Buea

Overview:

This page describes the submission-to-publication workflow at IJDIEH. We use the latest OJS platform to manage submissions, peer review, revisions, production, and publication. The process is designed to be transparent, fast, and consistent with best practices in scholarly publishing.

1. Submission

Authors submit manuscripts via the OJS *Author Dashboard* or by email (if invited). Required files: manuscript (Word/PDF), cover letter, signed copyright form, and any supplementary files.

2. Initial Editorial Check

Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor checks scope, completeness, compliance with author guidelines, and originality (similarity check). Manuscripts outside scope may be desk-rejected.

3. Assignment to Section Editor

Suitable Section Editor or Associate Editor is assigned in OJS to manage peer review and select reviewers with relevant expertise.

4. Peer Review (Double-blind)

Two or more independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript (double-blind). Reviewers submit reports through OJS. Reviewer roles, CRediT statements, and ORCID IDs are encouraged.

5. Editorial Decision

Possible outcomes: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Decision and anonymized reviewer comments are communicated in OJS.

6. Revision(s)

Authors upload revised manuscript(s) and a point-by-point response to reviewers via OJS. Revised submissions may be re-reviewed if required.

7. Final Acceptance

On acceptance, authors complete final checks (copyright transfer or license), confirm metadata, and provide high-resolution figures. DOI request is prepared (Crossref).

8. Production & Proofing

Manuscripts are copyedited, typeset (PDF/HTML), and proofed in OJS. Authors approve proofs in the production stage. XML/JATS export may be generated if required for indexing.

9. Publication

Article is published online in an issue or as continuous publication. DOI is registered (Crossref) and metadata is pushed for indexing (Google Scholar, Crossref, and other partners).

10. Archiving & Indexing

Articles are archived via LOCKSS/PORTICO (where configured) and indexed per agreements. We provide XML metadata and support indexing requests (Google Scholar, DRJI, etc.).

Typical timeline (indicative):

Initial check: 1–2 days • Peer review: 10–14 days • Revision(s): 1–3 weeks (dependent on authors) • Final production to publication: 3–7 days after proofs approved.

Roles & Responsibilities

Author checklist (before submission)
  • Follow GPH Standard Format & APA 7th style
  • Include abstract (150–250 words) and keywords
  • Attach signed copyright/consent forms

Publication Process — Frequently Asked Questions

How do I track my submission?
Log in to your OJS Author Dashboard → Submissions. Each submission record shows current status (e.g., Under Review, Awaiting Revisions, Accepted). You will also receive email notifications for major status changes.
What is the typical review timeline?
Typical timelines are: initial check 1–2 days, peer review 10–14 days, and revision cycles 1–3 weeks depending on author response. Timelines may vary by article type and reviewer availability.
Do you register DOIs and deposit metadata?
Yes. On final acceptance we prepare metadata for Crossref and register DOIs for all published articles. Accurate metadata (authors, affiliations, abstract, keywords) is required for DOI registration.
Can I suggest reviewers for my manuscript?
Yes. You may suggest qualified reviewers during submission, but the editor has full discretion to accept or decline suggestions to avoid conflicts of interest.
What happens after acceptance?
After acceptance, you will be asked to complete any licensing/copyright forms, provide high-resolution figures, and approve proofs. The production team prepares galleys (PDF/HTML) and registers the DOI prior to publication.
