Ethics & Plagiarism Policy

Ethics & Plagiarism Policy

International Journal of Developmental Issues in Education and Humanities (IJDIEH) — Published by University of Buea

Policy snapshot:

IJDIEH follows COPE-aligned standards and enforces strict policies on originality, authorship, conflicts of interest, and misconduct. All submissions are screened for plagiarism and handled under a double-blind peer-review process.

Publication ethics and integrity

IJDIEH is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency in scholarly publishing. The journal follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for handling submissions, reviews, and post-publication concerns.

Authors' responsibilities

  • Submit original, unpublished work not under review elsewhere.
  • Cite sources accurately; avoid plagiarism and data fabrication.
  • Declare author contributions and conflicts of interest.
  • Obtain required ethical approvals for research involving people or animals.

Editors & reviewers

  • Assess manuscripts on scholarly merit and relevance only.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle conflicts of interest appropriately.
  • Follow a double-blind peer-review process to ensure impartiality.

Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are screened with plagiarism detection software before peer review. Authors are expected to submit original work and properly attribute all sources.

Similarity threshold: A similarity index above 20% (excluding references and standard methodology language) will trigger editorial review and may result in revision requests or rejection.

Allegations, investigations, and corrections

If concerns about plagiarism, data manipulation, or other misconduct arise, IJDIEH will follow COPE flowcharts to investigate. Authors will be given an opportunity to respond. Outcomes may include correction, retraction, or notification to the author’s institution.

  1. Initial assessment by the Editor-in-Chief.
  2. If warranted, formal investigation with authors and reviewers notified.
  3. Decision recorded and corrective action published if required (erratum, retraction, or expression of concern).

Authorship and contributor roles

All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the work. IJDIEH encourages the use of the CRediT taxonomy to clarify individual contributions (e.g., Conceptualization, Data Curation, Writing – Original Draft, Supervision).

Copyright & open access

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right to publish under an open access model. All published articles are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution CC BY 4.0, permitting reuse with proper attribution.

Disclosure & conflict of interest

Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest or funding sources that could influence the research or interpretation of results. Declared conflicts will appear in the published article.

Practical advice for authors:
  • Run your manuscript through a plagiarism checker before submission.
  • Use the APA 7th edition citation style (journal default).
  • Include ethics approval statements for human/animal studies.
  • Provide CRediT roles when prompted in the submission system.
