Abstract

This research examines the performance of private schools in the city of Ngaoundere through the lens of participatory auditing. Observing a "perception gap" between the managerial promises of school proprietors and the actual experiences of families, the study is grounded in the accountability paradigm and the SERVQUAL model. The objective is to demonstrate that parental feedback constitutes an indispensable auditing lever for optimizing school governance. Using a descriptive and analytical quantitative approach, a structured questionnaire was administered to a final sample of 78 parents. Data were processed using IBM SPSS Statistics, and the results highlight a strategic tripod of performance : Tangibility, which is the dominant driver of satisfaction and initial attractiveness; Transparency, which is directly conditioned by the clarity of administrative communication ; and Active Listening. The study demonstrates that school quality in the private sector of Ngaoundéré is a multidimensional construct where material and relational factors are inseparable. It propose the systematic integration of parental judgment into internal audit mechanisms to mitigate the "institutional blindness" of proprietors and ensure the long-term sustainability of these establishments.
